How To Book A Great Honeymoon Cruise
Honeymoon Cruising
A cruise has all the makings of a wonderful honeymoon. Due to the special atmosphere that sets cruising apart from other forms of vacation, a honeymoon cruise will add much more romanticism to your first days as husband and wife. Here are some guidelines to help you plan a memorable honeymoon at sea.
The first thing you need to do is research the dates of the cruises in the area in which the wedding ceremony will take place. It would be very convenient to have your wedding on the same day on which you can start your cruise - not only does it add some excitement to the whole reception, but you don't have to worry about staying at a hotel till the ship leaves. It's true that there will not be any "Just Married" plate on the stern of the ship, but that's a minor compromise compared to the pleasure of climbing aboard right after the reception.
You could go even further and consider holding the reception itself, or even the whole wedding, on board the ship before it leaves. It shouldn't be very difficult to find a cruise ship that will offer this kind of service - and the price might be quite convenient, since you're also taking a cruise on that ship. The guests are guaranteed to feel impressed - a wedding on a cruise ship is not something you can see every day.
Holding the ceremony on the ship will also enable you to stay with your family and friends until the last minute, and it also brings a small change to the traditional procedure: normally, it's the newly wed couple that leaves the reception, but this time it'll be the guests.
Dull as it might seem - compared to the honeymoon excitement -, you'll need to go over the paperwork well in advance. Make the reservations as early as you can - i.e., when you have set a definite date to your wedding. This will give you enough time to handle all passport and ticket formalities and it will also spare you of any unpleasant surprises such as high charges for last-minute changes. Check to be sure that your marriage license will have the correct city written on it - normally, it should be the city where the ship is docked.
Perhaps planning a cruising honeymoon requires a bit more planning than a traditional one, but it'll be worth it. The mere fact that you'll be together in the pleasantly unfamiliar nautical context will enhance the feeling that you are about to start a new life from that day on.Panama Canal Cruise News
